Closing Ceremony of Filigree Workshop as part of the "Filigree Beyond Craft" project
NGO EC Ma Ndryshe in the framework of the project "Filigree beyond Craft" has concluded an eight-week cycle of Filigree training with the aim of protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage in Kosovo. Filigree beyond Craft is part of the project "Dialogue between Communities through Comprehensive Preservation of Cultural Heritage", implemented by UNDP and funded by the European Union Instrument for Stability and Peace (IcSP).
30 applicants selected from two public calls, among them participants from the Municipalities of Prizren Region, women, youth and representatives of different communities have been certified at the training organized in two working groups. Participants have been trained in filigree craft work by the Filigree Association filigree artists, while the 5 most successful applicants will continue their paid internships at the association for a six-month period.
Future filigree masters were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. Mytaher Haskuka, and the UNDP Representative, Ms. Marta Gazideda. The municipality of Prizren, in addition to the support provided by the use of the premises at the Historic Center, has promised future support for applicants skilled in the craft of filigree.
'' Filigree Beyond Craft '' aims to build trust and collaboration among communities through a platform for information and knowledge sharing. Other activities included within this project, in addition to the Filigree Training and Internship Workshops are: Strategic Framework Development, Web Platform, Filigree Documentary and Filigree Fair. Preserving handicrafts that are under threat by engaging young people and women is at the core of the activities underway within this project.
